We believe in the collective energy of a creative community and strive to bring local artists and our neighbors together. Our mission is to create a place where visitors can discover more about the local art scene. A place to meet local artists and hear the stories of how and why they make the work they do. Our multi-purpose space is a hive of activity with open studios, workshops, events and classes.
Beach Light
SAM KITTNER— Nothing like the beach-light to teach you the ever-changing nature of sunlight…how color, tone, shadow, et al changes as the sun’s apparent path moves through the sphere of the wide open sky…how the moving clouds can filter the light in dramatic and subtle ways…how the sunlight itself and the bounced light from the sand and sea paints the scene before you in the most precious and fleeting manner…
The Clucking
We had seven of them. Two Rhodies, one Polish Cross (which came from a science experiment), an Araucana, two Bantams and a Plymouth. We had more than these seven over the course of 7 years, but somehow these seven are the ones I remember the most. They all had names and came from friends and neighbors. They ruled our daily schedule.

Rocky Mountain National Park is high…really high…like 12,000 feet-plus high.

Our 2nd floor space is an art haven in the downtown of historic Takoma Park. We have a rotating collection of local art including mixed media collage, painting, assemblage, and photography. You’ll find unique contemporary work that is uplifting, inspiring and thought-provoking. In addition to showcasing original art, we also have a curated selection of artisan made gifts.

IN PUBLIC PLACES
Faceless Faces in Public Places presents people exhibiting determination and hope as they interact with their daily environments amid the angst of this unprecedented era, capturing the affection they show for their communities and the vital nature of place even during a pandemic. The collection, with over 80 black-and-white photographs, is composed of street photography showing adults and children wearing protective masks as they go about their lives in local neighborhoods within the Washington, DC, urban core. Sam Kittner’s Faceless Faces in Public Places marks our collective navigation through these historic times.
